Forty-Two Offs

BACK TO TERMS & DEFINITIONS

Good and Bad Offs

With Trumps being fives the four/ace
is a "bad off". If a four is lead the high four,
if not trumped, takes the trick. The six/four
could also come in for a total of 16
points.

The Deuce/Ace is a "Good Off". If lead
the "Nickel" Deuce/Trey is in your hand
and will not be played. It also protects the
Four/Ace from an Ace lead.

The Trey/Deuce is a "Bad Off". If Treys
are lead, if lost the five count plus
the point for the trick will be a loss
of six points for the trick.

With Trumps being fours the Five/Deuce
is a "bad off". If a fives are lead the high five,
if not trumped, takes the trick. The Double Five
is the high five and a ten count.

The Trey/Ace is a "bad off". If a Trey is
lead the high Trey, if not trumped, takes the
trick. The Trey/Deuce is a five count.

The Ace/Blank may be a "walker" after
the Double Ace is lead as long as the
Double Blank is not lead first. If the
Double Ace is played and the Ace/Blank
is "Walked" before the Trey/Ace is lead,
by counting the Aces all will know where the
Trey/Ace is! The Ace/Blank may
be a "Good Off" as the Four/Ace is trump.
A lead to get out of the lead in a no game suit.

Straight offs are:
The Four/Ace is the only four or Ace in the hand and the Five/Deuce is the only Five or Two in the hand.
